Poncha Springs to Canon City

Start out this morning at 620 and rode by myself pretty much all day. It was a beautiful ride along the Arkanas River It was a downhill ride pretty much the whole way except for 5 miles when we had to climb a little bit of a mountain.
We are staying at an Abbey that is no longer an a monastery but is a training center for leadership people in the Catholic church.  I am staying a$14 room for the night. There were god showers and I got my laundry done. There is also a winery here and a tasting room which Barb, Armanda Hulstein and myself.  It is basic but beats sleeping in a tent for a night It was a very upscale wine tasting room with lots of French accents.
Apparently, Canon City is prison capital of the US according  Patty a staff member her. There are 14 facilities in this county.
Today we had our first ever medical emergency from home for a cyclist.  A cyclist wife had to have an emergency surgery that could be life threating.  The cyclist immediately decided to fly home and may rejoin the tour later.
We also have another cyclist going home for medical treatment for his knee that has given him trouble for several weeks. He decided he needed to listen to his body and take of it by flying home and seeing his doctor.
Just got interrupted posting my blog with the regular late afternoon rain storm. We also scrambled to get everyone's gear bag under a tarp who had not set up a tent.
I am getting on the internet sitting outside by Ross Luustsma van who has a hot spot.
