Adventures in cycling, volunteer work, and joy in ordinary days. The joy of being in God's presence, feeling His love and grace, and living a life of gratitude and praise. I have been in the bottom of life’s pit. Today I feel blessed and thankful for what God has done for me. I have chosen to seek God's wisdom and direction, and to live a life in service to Jesus Christ. My prayer is that you too will experience joy and adventure on your journey. May we share insights and experiences.

Prisoner's perspective on what it means for volunteers to come and visit people in prison.
Several weeks ago, I had indicated Hank and I had attended a volunteer appreciation event at a prison that Hank and I visit for Bible study and worship service once a month for men in prison. Many have been there for 10years + and some are lifers. What we learned at this appreciation event was the importance of our visits to these prisoners and what it means to them. If any of you have ever wondered or desired to visit people in prison here is a personal testimony from one person whose life volunteers have touched. Jesus encouraged us to visit people in prison as they need our love and encouragement. The Bible has many stories of people who were in prison for many years, but God used them and prepared them in prison for a calling bigger than themselves. Many of the men share how they are meeting God in the deep dark place of prison and giving them hope and new joy for their lives. I have attached a copy of the speech written by one prisoner and what our visits have meant.

Thanks, Claire, for giving voice to someone whose words often fall on deaf ears. Read Troy's writings sometime - at www.prisonersinchrist.org
Thank you for your insightful posts. I enjoyed meeting you at Synod and look forward to getting to know you better when we meet in Grand Rapids on Aug. 3rd. Blessings and health as your journey begins. Our church is praying each week for the Sea to Sea riders and their families.
